Job summary

HEI Hotels and Resorts at Cavalier Resort in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a kitchen team member to prepare food of consistent quality and assist in daily kitchen functions. Follow recipe cards, prep ahead, rotate perishables, and help keep the buffet stocked to meet guest demand.

The role requires hotel or food-service experience, dexterity to operate heavy equipment, and the ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

Qualifications

• Hotel experience preferred.
• Finger/hand dexterity to operate food machinery.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production/portion standards.
• Start ahead-of-time items and manage preparation to meet estimated needs.
• Date and rotate perishables, maintain proper temperatures and stock buffet.
• Check pars for shift usage, plan prep, freezer pulls and line setup.
• Return unused food to storage with cover/date and keep storage organized.
• Assist in controlling food costs and reducing waste per HEI standards.
• Operate and clean kitchen equipment (fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, etc.).
• Maintain attendance and be available to work regularly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
