Job summary

The Oxford Tap is seeking a line cook to join their kitchen team in Oxford, Michigan. Candidates should be friendly, enthusiastic, and enjoy cooking, with prior kitchen or fast-paced job experience. Availability for evenings and weekends, a willingness to work, and the ability to lift up to 55 lbs are required.

Responsibilities include setting up the kitchen, preparing and plating meals, aiding teammates, and keeping the area clean and sanitary throughout each shift.

Responsibilities

• Set up the kitchen prior to opening.
• Set up a station with needed items.
• Cook a specific portion as directed by the lead.
• Assist with food prep and maintain pace with the line.
• Help other line cooks when behind.
• Plate and garnish dishes for presentation.
• Maintain sanitary conditions and organization.
• Wrap unused items and store properly at shift end.
• Clean and sanitize the area and kitchen before closing.

Job description

We are looking for applicants who are friendly, enthusiastic, and genuinely enjoy cooking. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience in a kitchen OR another fast-paced job environment and a willingness to work. You should also be available to take evening and weekend shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Line Cook

• Helps set up the whole kitchen prior to a restaurant’s opening.
• Sets up a station by bringing all containers of necessary food items to that point in the line.
• Cooks a specific portion of each plated meal as assigned by the lead.
• Assists with prepping foods.
• Keeps pace with other cooks on the line so that all food is ready for each plate simultaneously.
• Steps in to help another line cook who is running behind.
• Assembles dishes and provides garnishment.
• Plates food in an attractive manner to maximize customer enjoyment.
• Pitches in and the rest of the staff to maintain sanitary conditions and organization in the kitchen.
• Wraps unused items and stores in proper areas at the end of a shift and shuts off all equipment at the station.
• Clean and sanitizes the area with soap and warm water.
• Participates in cleaning the rest of the kitchen before the restaurant closes for the night.
