Job summary

SafeSplash in New York is seeking a dedicated Lifeguard to supervise the safety of our students, parents, and staff on-site. You will maintain constant surveillance, respond to emergencies, and ensure all safety protocols are followed by instructors and patrons.

We offer paid training, flexible hours, daily pay, and benefits for 30+ hours per week, including family swim lessons and health coverage.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard certification is required and must be maintained during time of employment.
• Current CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are required within 30 days of hire.
• Must learn the curriculum and safety requirements within 30 days.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Comfortable around water and interacting with children and parents.
• Must be able to lift and push up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Safety: maintain constant surveillance to ensure customer and staff safety and report unsafe activities.
• Provide feedback to instructors if safety rules are not followed.
• Act immediately to secure safety in emergencies.
• Provide emergency care until EMS arrival.
• Prepare incident reports as required.
• Maintain a professional and engaging attitude.
• Attend monthly in-services to improve lifeguarding skills.
• Deliver a world-class experience by ensuring a safe environment for swimmers.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Lifeguards play a key role in maintaining a safe environment for our students, parents, and staff. Saf-T-Swim is owned and operated by SafeSplash.

Responsibilities:

• Safety
• Maintain constant surveillance to ensure the safety of our customers and report any unsafe activities, equipment or instruction to management.
• Provide feedback to instructors immediately if they are outside of curriculum safety requirements (i.e. safety distances, holds, turning backs, etc.)
• Act immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of customers in the event of an emergency.
• Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
• Prepare appropriate incident reports.
• Always present a professional and engaging attitude.
• Attend monthly in-services to continue to work on lifeguarding skills.

Job Type

• Weekdays, Weeknights and Weekends required
• 10+ hours a week (seasonality can impact this)

Requirements

• Lifeguard Certification is required and must be maintained during time of employment (training available)

• Expected to learn the curriculum to include all safety aspects within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
