Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools’ King Elementary in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 1 for Life Skills. The position is 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year, starting immediately.

The role involves supporting students with disabilities, assisting the teacher, managing behavior, and providing instructional support as needed. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, Associate credits or ParaPro score, and a willingness to complete CPI training.

Qualifications

• Documentation verifying a high school diploma or GED
• Official transcripts verifying an Associate's degree or 72 quarter/48 semester credits or ETS ParaPro score 455+
• One year of related experience with children in educational setting preferred
• Experience as part of an educational team preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Ability to think quickly, solve problems, and resolve conflicts
• Experience with children with moderate to severe disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in implementing and evaluating goals and objectives on student IEPs
• Provide instructional assistance in basic life skills, academics, and curriculum
• De-escalate behavioral crises and implement behavior management plans
• Support students with disabilities in classroom, bus, and community settings
• Assist with data entry, record-keeping, and material preparation
• Maintain confidentiality and work cooperatively with staff
