Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 1, Life Skills to provide one-on-one support for students in a life skills setting. The role follows non-exempt FLSA status and a part‑time schedule of 6.5 hours per day across 9 months per year.

The position emphasizes collaboration with certificated staff and adherence to district policies. Qualifying candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and relevant experience, with a preference for experience working with

Qualifications

• Diploma or GED required and related experience preferred.
• Associate degree or 60 quarter/72 semester credits or equivalent.
• ParaPro assessment score of 455+ or equivalent.
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
• Support students with life skills in a one‑on‑one setting.
• Monitor student behavior and apply de‑escalation techniques as trained.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct with staff and students.
• Assist with lesson preparation and materials as directed by certificated staff.
