Position Summary

To support, implement, and monitor nursing care in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements

Formal Education / Training:

  1. Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
  2. Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  3. BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience:

Patient Care Delivery

Equipment and Skills Training:

The ability to work well under pressure, function dependently and independently, and be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge across settings. Equipment includes Order Entry Computer System, Telemetry, AT&T Language Line, Omnicell Medication System.

Physical Environment:

A Postpartum unit with patients ranging from less than one year to ninety-nine years of age.

Physical Effort:

  1. Prolonged standing and working up to twelve hours a day.
  2. Push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.
  3. Lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.
  4. Communication in English (oral and written).
Performance Standards
  1. Revise patient care plans based on individual needs, diagnoses, standards, interventions, and outcomes.
  2. Assist with patient teaching, discharge planning, and post-discharge needs.
  3. Perform treatments and procedures independently, adhering to policies and assessments.
  4. Handle, store, and administer solutions safely as per policies.
  5. Monitor patient conditions, evaluate responses, and modify care plans promptly.
  6. Document accurately and promptly.
  7. Maintain a healing and therapeutic environment.
  8. Maintain position-specific qualifications.
  9. Support staff development.
  10. Ensure effective communication.
  11. Maintain professionalism in work area and appearance, emphasizing cleanliness, orderliness, and safety.
