Position Summary

To support, implement, and monitor nursing care in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements

Formal Education / Training:

  • Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • BLS within 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience: Patient Care Delivery

Equipment and Skills Training: Ability to work well under pressure, function dependently and independently, and apply basic nursing knowledge across settings. Equipment includes Order Entry Computer System, Telemetry, AT&T Language Line, Omnicell Medication System.

Physical Environment: Post Partum unit with patients ranging from less than one year to ninety-nine years of age.

Physical Effort:

  • Ability to communicate in English orally and in writing.
  • Prolonged standing and working up to twelve hours a day.
  • Push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.
  • Lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.
Performance Standards
  1. Revise patient care plans, identify problems, and set attainable outcomes.
  2. Assist with patient teaching, discharge planning, and post-discharge needs.
  3. Function independently with treatments and procedures, adhering to policies and competency assessments.
  4. Handle solutions safely according to policies.
  5. Monitor and report patient conditions, evaluate responses, and modify care plans promptly.
  6. Accurately and timely document care.
  7. Maintain a healing environment for patients and families.
  8. Maintain position-specific qualifications.
  9. Support staff development.
  10. Ensure effective communication.
  11. Maintain professionalism in work area and appearance, reflecting safety and cleanliness standards.
