Position Summary

To support, implement, and monitor nursing care in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements

Formal Education / Training:

  • Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience:

Patient Care Delivery

Equipment and Skills Training:

The ability to work well under pressure, function dependently and independently, and be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge across settings. Equipment includes Order Entry Computer System, Telemetry, AT&T Language Line, Omnicell Medication System.

Physical Environment:

A Post Partum unit serving patients from less than one year to ninety-nine years of age.

Physical Effort:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Prolonged standing and working up to twelve hours a day.
  • Pushing/pulling objects up to 175 lbs.
  • Lifting and turning patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.
Performance Standards
  1. Revise the patient's care plan individually, identifying problems/needs, diagnoses, standards of care/practice, interventions, and outcomes.
  2. Assist with patient teaching, discharge planning, and post-discharge needs.
  3. Function independently with treatments, procedures, and equipment, adhering to policies and competency assessments.
  4. Handle and administer solutions safely per hospital policies.
  5. Monitor and report patient condition, evaluate responses, and modify care plans promptly.
  6. Document accurately and timely.
  7. Maintain a healing and therapeutic environment.
  8. Maintain position-specific qualifications.
  9. Facilitate staff development.
  10. Ensure effective communication.
  11. Maintain professionalism in work area and personal appearance, reflecting safety and cleanliness standards.
