Position Summary

To support, implement, and monitor nursing care in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements

Formal Education / Training:

  • Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience:

Patient Care Delivery

Equipment and Skills Training:

The ability to work well under pressure, function both dependently and independently, and adapt basic nursing knowledge to various settings. Equipment includes Order Entry Computer System, Telemetry, AT&T Language Line, Omnicell Medication System.

Physical Environment:

A Post Partum unit serving patients from less than one year to ninety-nine years of age.

Physical Effort:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Prolonged standing and working up to twelve hours a day.
  • Pushing/pulling objects up to 175 lbs.
  • Lifting and turning patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.
Performance Standards
  1. Revises patient care plans based on individual needs, diagnoses, standards of care, interventions, and achievable outcomes.
  2. Assists with patient teaching, discharge planning, and post-discharge needs.
  3. Functions independently with treatments, procedures, and equipment, adhering to policies and assessments.
  4. Handles solutions safely according to hospital policies.
  5. Monitors and reports patient conditions, evaluates responses, and adjusts care plans promptly.
  6. Documents accurately and timely.
  7. Maintains a healing and therapeutic environment.
  8. Maintains position-specific qualifications.
  9. Supports staff development.
  10. Ensures effective communication.
  11. Maintains cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in the work area and personal appearance.
