Position Summary

To support, implement, and monitor nursing care in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements

Formal Education / Training:

  1. Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
  2. Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  3. BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience: Patient Care Delivery

Equipment and Skills Training: Ability to work well under pressure, function independently and dependently, and be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge across settings. Equipment includes Order Entry Computer System, Telemetry, AT&T Language Line, Omnicell Medication System.

Physical Environment: Post Partum unit with patients from less than one year to ninety-nine years old.

Physical Effort:

  1. Must communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
  2. Prolonged standing and working up to twelve hours a day.
  3. Ability to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.
  4. Ability to lift and turn patients up to 250 lbs. with assistance.
Performance Standards
  1. Revise patient care plans based on individual needs, standards of care, and attainable outcomes.
  2. Assist with patient teaching, discharge planning, and post-discharge needs.
  3. Perform treatments, procedures, and operate equipment independently, following policies and demonstrating competency.
  4. Handle, transport, store, prepare, and administer solutions safely per hospital policies.
  5. Monitor and report patient conditions, evaluate responses, and modify care plans accordingly.
  6. Document accurately and promptly.
  7. Maintain a healing and therapeutic environment.
  8. Maintain position-specific qualifications.
  9. Support staff development.
  10. Ensure effective communication.
  11. Keep work area and personal appearance professional, clean, and safe.
