Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks licensed Professional Engineers who can blend business development with technical workload. You will grow and maintain client relationships, review test results, and seal geotechnical letters while the company handles the lab, field staff, and quality system.

The role requires an active PE in the posting state (or by comity within 90 days), 6+ years in materials testing or geotechnical work, and a proven ability to secure work.

Qualifications

• Active PE license (civil, geotechnical, or structural) in the posting state or ability to obtain by comity within 90 days.
• 6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection.
• Record of bringing in work or a credible plan to develop market opportunities.
• Comfortable pricing, negotiating, and saying no to bad contracts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a book of clients—general contractors, owners, developers, and design firms—for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
• Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
• Serve as engineer of record on the projects you win: review field and laboratory data, seal reports and letters.
• Direct technicians and inspectors on your projects and coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
• Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in your market.
• Travel to client offices and jobsites in your market; collaborate with Sugar Land laboratory support as needed.
