Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks licensed Professional Engineers to grow a client-centric practice in Charleston, WV. You’ll blend business development with engineering tasks, sealing geotechnical reports and managing field observations while expanding our testing programs for contractors, owners, and design firms.

You will shepherd proposals, price work, and negotiate terms, serving as engineer of record on projects you win.

Qualifications

Active PE license in the posting state or by comity within 90 days.
6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection with client-facing responsibility.
Proven capability to bring in work or a credible plan to do so in this market.
Comfort with pricing, negotiating, and declining unfavorable contracts.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a book of clients for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms and convert opportunities into signed work.
Serve as engineer of record on won projects: review data, seal reports and letters, and resolve issues.
Direct technicians and inspectors, coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
Represent the company at owner and pre-construction meetings and industry events.
