Job summary

Construction Materials Testing seeks a licensed professional engineer to function as a seller-doer in the Pittsburgh area, blending business development with engineering work. You will maintain client relationships, price and write proposals, and seal geotechnical and materials testing reports.

You will review field and lab data, guide technicians, and travel to client sites as needed. The compensation includes base plus revenue share based on performance.

Qualifications

• Active PE license in civil, geotechnical, or structural.
• 6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection with client-facing responsibility.
• Track record of bringing in work or credible market plan to do so.
• Comfort with pricing, negotiating, and saying no to bad contracts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a book of clients for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
• Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
• Serve as engineer of record on projects won: review data, seal reports/letters.
• Direct technicians and inspectors; coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
• Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events.
