Job summary

Visionworks of America is seeking an Optical Assistant to help customers select frames and lenses, interpret prescriptions, and coordinate with the lab and optometrist. The role requires diligent adherence to privacy and hygiene standards in a busy retail setting.

You will assist with insurance benefits and ensure accurate pricing while maintaining a clean dispensing area and providing excellent customer service. A state license for ophthalmic dispensing is required.

Qualifications

• Must hold applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
• Ability to explain optical products and interpret prescriptions.
• Ability to read and write simple correspondence and present information.
• Proficiency in calculating discounts and pricing.
• HIPAA compliance and privacy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with frame and lens selection using SERVE process.
• Ensure social distancing and hygiene protocols are followed.
• Provide accurate product information for frames, lenses and services.
• Inform customers about insurance benefits and any charges not covered.
• Interpret prescriptions and coordinate with Lab and Optometrist.
• Sell, fit and dispense frames and accessories with precise measurements.
• Maintain a clean, organized dispensing area and accurate pricing.
• Adhere to privacy or other company policies; participate in training.
