Job summary

AEG is seeking a Licensed Optician to join our team and provide expert eyewear solutions with exceptional patient care. You will assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that fit prescription, lifestyle, and personal style, ensuring proper fit and accurate measurements.

Role requires interpreting prescriptions, entering data into EHR/ALE, and maintaining knowledge of lens options, warranties, and insurance coverage. Excellent customer service and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

State Licensure
High School or GED qualification.
ABO/NCLE certification preferred but not required.
Optical dispensing experience
HIPAA compliance experience preferred.
PC skills to include MS Office, Windows, and word processing.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication, excellent customer service.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Deliver extraordinary experience to each patient with customized recommendations for products and services.
Receive patient handoff from technicians or doctors and identify visual needs to recommend frames, lenses, and treatments.
Stay current on products, manufacturer rebates, and types of lenses and frames.
Take and return patient calls; update on order status and resolve issues; escalate as needed.
Assist patients in selecting frames, lens type, and coatings per needs.
Educate patients on eyeglass and contact lens care, warranty, and coverage options.
Understand medical and vision insurance plans, including benefits and copays.
Interpret prescriptions and enter into EHR/ALE system with proper documentation.
Follow up on pending orders and notify patients when ready.
Dispense glasses, adjust for fit and comfort; seek feedback.
Communicate with technicians and managers about orders and status.
Inspect final product for flaws; clean and polish lenses.
Maintain workspace cleanliness and organization.
Answer patient questions about insurance, pricing, promotions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
