Job summary

Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) – Facilities Services Division, Los Angeles, CA, On-Site. Candidate must be willing to commute to the worksite and perform project site visits as necessary.

The role involves defining and reviewing project scope, leading complex civil design work, and coordinating with architects and consultants to ensure compliance with district policies and codes. A CA-PE license and a bachelor’s in civil engineering are required.

Qualifications

• Eight years of full-time paid professional experience in civil design on commercial or public agency projects.
• Experience in AutoCAD software design.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Adobe and similar office software.

Responsibilities

• Assist in defining and reviewing the Project Requirement Document scope of work and schedule, including interim housing requirements.
• Perform highly complex civil engineering work related to the planning, design, and construction of District facilities and site improvements; provide technical direction to District personnel, commissioned architects, and consulting engineers; and certify civil engineering design plans.
• Apply civil engineering principles to planning, design, and construction of Facilities Services Division projects, including scope development, budget preparation, design review, and coordination with District staff.
• Provide technical direction to commissioned architects and consulting civil engineers regarding District policies, standards, and design guidelines for site development, including grading, paving, fencing, parking layouts, streets, storm drainage, sewer systems, and related improvements.
• Coordinate with the City of Los Angeles and civil engineering consultants to obtain review and approval of drawings and permits for off-site improvements adjacent to District school sites, including sidewalks, driveways, ADA curb ramps, and related improvements.
