Job summary

CMTS is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Facilities Services Division.

The Civil Engineer will perform highly complex professional civil engineering work related to planning, design, and construction of District facilities and site improvements. The candidate will have extensive civil design experience on public projects and active California PE licensure.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of full-time professional civil design experience on commercial or public agency projects.
• Strong knowledge of civil/site development design and construction.
• Experience with AutoCAD design software.

Responsibilities

• Assist in defining and reviewing Project Requirement Documents, scopes of work, project schedules, and interim housing requirements.
• Perform complex civil engineering work involving the planning, design, and construction of District facilities and site improvements.
• Apply civil engineering principles, practices, processes, and procedures to project scope development, budgeting, design review, and technical coordination.
• Provide technical direction to architects and consulting civil engineers regarding District policies, standards, and design guidelines.
• Review and oversee civil engineering requirements involving: site grading, paving, fencing, parking layouts, streets and roadway improvements, storm drainage, sewer systems, utility improvements, and other site development improvements.
