Job summary

KDG Construction Consulting seeks a Civil Engineer to support the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Maintenance & Operations division. You will lead complex civil design, certify plans, and provide technical direction across site development, grading, and utilities.

The role requires a CA PE license and 8+ years of civil design experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office. Anticipated salary range is $130,000–$145,000 per year, with on-site work in Los Angeles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required.
• Californian PE license required.
• Minimum eight years of full-time paid professional experience in civil design on commercial or public agency projects, preferably educational facilities.
• Experience with AutoCAD software design.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex civil engineering work related to planning, design, and construction of District facilities and site improvements; provides technical direction to District personnel, architects, and consultants; certifies design plans.
• Apply civil engineering principles to planning, design, and construction of projects including scope development, budgeting, design review, and coordination with District staff.
• Provides technical guidance to architects and consultants regarding policies, standards, and design guidelines for site development including grading, paving, fencing, parking, streets, drainage, and utilities.
• Prepares and reviews project scope documents, surveys, design drawings, specifications, and related technical documents.
• Manages contracts and task orders for civil engineering and related services.
• Reviews plans for conformance with policies, standards, codes, and project requirements; identifies conflicts and recommends revisions.
• Develops and maintains civil engineering standards and guidelines to ensure compliance with codes and safety requirements.
• Directs site development studies to assess feasibility and cost for site grading and improvements.
• Advises contractors and project personnel on civil engineering requirements and field conditions.
• Provides professional certification of civil engineering designs for District and other projects.
