Job summary

East 38th Street Library in Indianapolis is seeking a customer service assistant to support technology-themed programming and digital literacy classes for the local community.

You will assist patrons with job searches, resumes, and internet use; monitor the computer lab; troubleshoot basic issues; and help with circulation tasks, including holds and payments. Strong communication and basic computer skills required; weekend availability preferred.

Qualifications

• Six months to one year of advanced study or training past high school or equivalency
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of computer functions (Office, Google, mobile devices)
• Experience assisting customers face to face
• Willingness to work day, evening, weekend hours (Sundays included)
• Bilingual preferred but not required
• Experience in customer-service and/or assisting adults with instruction preferred

Responsibilities

• Develops and presents technology-themed programming and digital literacy classes for the community.
• Assists patrons with job searches, resumes, cover letters, and use of government workforce websites.
• Monitors the Computer Lab and troubleshoots basic computer issues.
• Helps patrons with library policies and general questions.
• Orders supplies and maintains printers/equipment readiness.
• Processes holds and assists with cash drawer and payments for materials.
• Provides courteous service to patrons and ensures a safe, accessible environment.
• Supports patrons with library policies and services, offering guidance and problem-solving.
