Job summary

Bartholomew County Public Library in Columbus, IN, is seeking an Adult Services Assistant to join as a part-time team member. The role requires some evening and weekend availability and involves helping patrons with digital resources, locating and checking out books and materials, and using printers and copiers.

You will assist with holds, interlibrary loan requests, curbside pickup, and basic technology questions while delivering friendly, responsive service in a community library setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous library or customer service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of library resources is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Check in and check out library materials for patrons.
• Answer phone calls and transfer them to the appropriate departments.
• Deliver items to patrons through the curbside pickup service.
• Sort materials for shelving, mending, and inspection.
• Shelve materials and perform shelf reading as needed.
• Use the library’s online catalog to help patrons locate items.
• Assist patrons with public computers and basic technology questions.
• Support patrons with printing, copying, scanning, and faxing.
• Place holds and submit interlibrary loan requests for patrons.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Support collection development activities as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
