Job summary

South Holland Public Library is seeking a friendly Public Services Assistant to join our welcoming team. This part-time position supports daily operations and is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, learning new technologies, and collaborating in a community-focused library environment.

The role emphasizes flexibility, creativity, and strong customer service at the Reference Desk, with opportunities to teach basic computer skills and develop programs for adult users.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher required.
• English reading/writing and clear communication essential.
• Spanish-speaking ability is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, courteous, and informative service to all library users.
• Deliver efficient, high-quality customer service at the Reference Desk.
• Develop, schedule, and present programs for adult users.
• Provide ready reference, readers’ advisory, and general assistance to users.
• Teach basic computer and technology skills.
• Assist, troubleshoot, and train users in the use of the online catalog, internet, databases, copiers, printers, and other library equipment.
• Work collaboratively with library staff to support daily operations.
