Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library seeks a Customer Services Specialist at the Southeast Branch. This 40-hour, full-time role handles customer inquiries, circulation tasks, and account assistance within a busy branch environment.

You will greet patrons, assist with reference questions, manage accounts and payments, and support location operations. The position includes a competitive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to express self effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of Internet and database services.
• Ability to operate library technology including PC, email, software (Windows/Microsoft Office).
• Reliable transportation to report to assignments.

Responsibilities

• Processes materials and handles returns, holds, and new materials.
• Greet customers, answer basic reference questions, and direct to staff.
• Assist with library card accounts and process applications and payments.
• Balance cash drawers and prepare deposits.
• Resolve account disputes by interviewing customers and explaining options.
• Open/close location, manage supplies, and maintain public materials and bulletin boards.
• Provide training on library technology to customers and staff.
