Job summary

The Kansas City Public Library is seeking an Assistant Branch Manager for Trails West in Independence, MO. This full-time exempt role reports to the Branch Manager and oversees daily branch operations, staffing, and service delivery.

You will supervise staff, provide research and readers' advisory services, and participate in hiring and training to ensure high-quality patron experiences. Notary and passport processing support are included, with a strong emphasis on customer service.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library/Information Science or equivalent.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with staff and the public.
• Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the floor and daily operations second in charge in the branch.
• Ensures adequate staffing and scheduling.
• Maintains a safe and inclusive environment and communicates incidents to management.
• Directly supervises assigned staff and functions.
• Provides research, readers' advisory, technical, and referral services.
• Participates in hiring, training, and evaluating direct and indirect reports.
• Ensures completion of office tasks and notary services.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Assists with Passport applications processing at Trails West branch.
