Job summary

The Kansas City Public Library is seeking a customer-focused library assistant for the Plaza Branch. The role provides reference, information, readers advisory and ILL services, assists with collection development and performs circulation tasks to ensure patrons have access to materials.

Shifts include Saturdays and Sundays plus weekday evenings; the incumbent will help maintain branch operations, answer phones and participate in special projects while upholding service standards for a diverse

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to meet and serve the public.
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player.
• Demonstrated ability to learn library operations and policies.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
• Ability to communicate in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provides reference, information, readers advisory and ILL services to patrons in person and by phone.
• Manages circulation and registration services, issues library cards and collects fines.
• Maintains branch operations in absence of managers and coordinates with IS for equipment issues.
• Assist with collection maintenance and notary services at Plaza Branch.
• Maintain courteous relationships with customers and staff and participate in special projects.
