Job description

About The Position

A Learning Experience Designer (LXD) independently owns detailed learning design, development, production, and quality for assigned workstreams and appropriately scoped projects. The LXD combines mature learning-design judgment with demonstrated AI-enabled and agentic production capability to produce high-quality work with greater speed, scale, consistency, and reliability. On larger, more complex engagements, the LXD collaborates with a Learning Solutions Consultant and project team to translate diagnosed needs and agreed solution direction into detailed learning designs and production-ready experiences. The Consultant retains overall project and client accountability, while the LXD owns detailed learning-design and production decisions within the agreed solution direction. When no Consultant is assigned, the LXD may directly own appropriately scoped projects, maintenance, and updates.

What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with Learning Solutions Consultants, subject matter experts, stakeholders, and project team members to translate diagnosed needs and agreed solution direction into detailed learning designs and production-ready instructor-led, virtual, e-learning, and blended learning experiences.
  • Exercise independent instructional judgment within the agreed solution direction, making detailed design decisions and surfacing tradeoffs that affect learning architecture, scope, learner experience, quality, or outcomes.
  • Design, develop, and maintain facilitator guides, resource guides, job aids, storyboards, e-learning modules, assessments, practice activities, multimedia assets, and related learning materials using appropriate tools, assets, and specialists.
  • Use AI-enabled and agentic production workflows to accelerate drafting, content transformation, asset development, version comparison, and preliminary quality checking. Apply professional judgment rather than accepting AI output without review.
  • Build and deliver final production files in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Articulate, Sana or successor learning platforms, and other approved production environments.
  • Verify accuracy, source fidelity, instructional soundness, accessibility, usability, visual quality, technical readiness, and compliance before delivery.
  • Independently own appropriately scoped projects and workstreams when no Consultant is assigned, as well as maintenance, updates, large-scale content revisions, and editable source-file handoff.
  • Contribute reusable production practices, AI workflow patterns, templates, and lessons learned that improve speed, consistency, reliability, and reduction of rework and errors.
  • Contribute to assessment, pilot, and evaluation activities using available learner, stakeholder, quality, and performance evidence.
  • Perform other duties as required or apparent.

NOTE: The Primary Accountabilities above are intended to describe the general content and requirements of the position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Incumbents may perform all or most of the Primary Accountabilities listed above. Specific goals or responsibilities will be documented in incumbents' performance objectives as outlined by the incumbents' immediate manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Minimum Education And Related Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in adult education, instructional design, learning experience design, communications, or a related field, plus typically four (4) or more years of relevant learning design or development experience.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and demonstrated capability.
  • Strong working knowledge of adult learning, instructional design, assessment, accessibility, and virtual and blended learning practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and develop instructor-led, virtual, e-learning, and blended learning assets that apply adult-learning and instructional-design principles.
  • Demonstrated, day-one capability using generative AI and agentic production workflows to develop, verify, and improve learning assets. This capability must be demonstrated through a portfolio, work sample, or comparable evidence of applied work.
  • Demonstrated proficiency producing final-quality learning assets in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and at least one e-learning authoring platform such as Articulate Storyline or Rise.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit clear, concise learning content, including facilitator guidance, scripts, assessments, activities, and performance-support materials.
  • Ability to independently review learning materials for accuracy, source fidelity, accessibility, usability, production quality, and readiness for delivery.
  • Ability to manage multiple production priorities, meet deadlines, communicate risks and dependencies, and collaborate effectively with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
Additional Qualifications
  • Master's degree in adult education, instructional design, learning experience design, organizational development, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of visual and multimedia design principles.
  • Proficiency with one or more Adobe Creative Cloud applications, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, or After Effects, is a plus.
  • Experience supporting evaluation, measurement, accessibility review, or quality assurance for learning products.
