Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to design learning experiences that solve business problems using a blend of eLearning, instructor-led training, and performance support.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, develop materials, manage projects, and ensure content accuracy with SMEs, capturing training needs for internal, external, and self-service customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology or Training & Development (preferred).
• Three years’ experience utilizing multimedia tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, Articulate Storyline, Illustrator (preferred).
• Two years of project management experience (preferred).
• Experience in designing and developing computer-based training, storyboards, and lessons for various delivery media.
• Experience with documentation or training authoring systems (preferred).
• Technical writing skills (preferred).
• Proven project leadership or employee leadership skills/experience.
• Knowledge of instructional design principles to provide effective training solutions and communicate recommendations clearly.
• Familiarity with authoring tools such as Captivate, Storyline, Animate; SharePoint knowledge (preferred).
• Knowledge of adult learning theories for designing relevant courses across adult learners.
• Ability to align instructional strategies with real learning contexts and select supporting technologies.
• Proven ability to reduce cognitive load for ILT and eLearning.
• Keeps current on learning methods and how to apply them to course development.
• Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Conduct group presentations and facilitate end-user training.

Responsibilities

• Analyze stakeholder needs and design high-level learning solutions with varying fidelity.
• Plan, coordinate, and develop materials and communications for projects.
• Develop performance-based training and cross-trainings for employees.
• Collaborate with SMEs to ensure content accuracy and quality.
• Manage deadlines and report project statuses to management.
