Job summary

Great Dane LLC is seeking an Industrial Engineer to develop, document, and own trailer manufacturing processes using lean principles. You will evaluate existing processes, configure systems to reduce cost, improve productivity, and develop best practices within production.

Ergonomic risk analysis and safety improvements are part of the role. Responsibilities include implementing Lean, improving material flow, workstation design, and standard labor hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering is required.
• 5–10 years of manufacturing experience required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Project management experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software.
• Knowledge of line balancing, manpower calculations, productivity analysis, capacity analysis, PFMEA, lean manufacturing, SPC.
• Experience developing production simulation models.
• Experience with low volume/high complexity manufacturing.
• Experience using digital tools for motion capture and time studies.
• Six Sigma certification is a plus.
• Willingness to travel to vendors, other plants, or corporate office.

Responsibilities

• Implement and facilitate Lean Manufacturing to improve operational efficiencies and eliminate waste.
• Apply IE tools to improve material flow, workstation design, ergonomics, and continuous improvements.
• Design workflows to minimize waste and optimize throughput.
• Develop and maintain standard labor hours, cycle times, and move times.
• Use data and reports to identify waste and improve efficiency via value stream mapping and other tools.
• Improve flow and storage of material to reduce waste from movement and handling.
• Develop and document staffing plans for each facility segment.
• Initiate cost reduction projects.
• Analyze and improve ergonomic risk and safety.
• Support PFMEA process.
• Evaluate make-buy opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned.
