Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Lean Engineer I or II to support project teams with kaizen-based continuous improvement, 5S and Flow Construction, to enhance safety and efficiency. 75–100% travel to project sites is required with relocation options as needed.

Base pay varies by location, with ranges provided for both levels. Ideal candidates have construction or manufacturing internship experience, a degree in CM/Engineering, and a solid understanding of continuous improvement, plus strong facilitation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent education/experience).
• Internship experience in construction or manufacturing.
• Solid understanding of continuous improvement principles.
• Effective trainer and facilitator with strong communication skills.
• Ability to influence through relationship building and a growth mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead kaizen workshops with project teams to drive process improvements.
• Promote lean tools (GEMBA walks, Daily Management System, idea capture) across teams.
• Partner with project leadership and craft workforce to establish trust for lean approaches.
• Support forepersons in observing work and addressing abnormalities; reduce batching.
• Assist in 5S implementation and flow schedule development for key work phases.
