Mortenson is seeking a Lean Engineer I or II to join the Solar Team, advancing kaizen-based continuous improvement, 5S, and Flow Construction to improve safety and project outcomes. The role involves leading workshops, promoting lean tools, and partnering with leadership and craft teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Internship experience in construction or manufacturing.
• Current driver's license.
• Solid understanding of continuous improvement principles.
• Excellent reliability and follow-through.
• Effective trainer and facilitator.
• Ability to influence through relationship building.
• Proactive self-starter with a growth mindset.
• Curiosity and optimism.
• Strong communication and active listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead kaizen workshops with project teams.
• Promote lean tools such as GEMBA walks and DMS.
• Partner with leadership and craft workforce to build trust in lean.
• Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and levels.
• Reinforce continuous improvement after workshops.
• Support forepersons in observing work and addressing abnormalities.
• Encourage crews to brainstorm and implement improvements.
• Support 5S implementation with teams and partners.
• Develop flow schedules for relevant work phases.
• Apply daily planning with superintendents to move toward one-piece flow.
