Job summary

Town of Gilbert is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Mechanic Lead to oversee daily operations and maintenance of the water treatment system. You will collaborate with the supervisor on budgets, monitor SCADA trends, and ensure accurate readings and sampling across facilities and remote sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3 years of experience in water treatment and mechanical maintenance.
• 5 years of experience in water systems and pumps.
• 1 year in fabricating and industrial plumbing preferred.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license required.
• ADEQ Grade 2 Water Treatment Certification and a Grade 2 Water Distribution Certification required at hire or promotion.
• ADEQ Grade 3 Water Treatment Certification and a Grade 3 Water Distribution Certification required within 1 year of hire or promotion.
• Certification in welding, fabrication or journeymen trades training preferred.
• 1 year or more of technical training beyond high school in water treatment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in budget development and monitoring with the supervisor.
• Monitor SCADA trends to predict future system behavior.
• Daily monitoring, recording readings, and sampling to check equipment.
• Support water production and system demands at facilities or remote sites.
• Stay current on technology for efficiency and regulatory compliance.
