Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
• 3 years of experience in water treatment and mechanical maintenance
• 5 years of experience in water systems and pumps
• 1 year in fabricating and industrial plumbing
• Valid Arizona driver's license
• ADEQ Grade 2 Water Treatment Certification and Grade 2 Water Distribution Certification
• ADEQ Grade 3 Water Treatment Certification and Grade 3 Water Distribution Certification
• Certification in welding, fabrication or journeymen trades training
• 1 year or more of technical training beyond high school in water treatment

Responsibilities

• Work with supervisor in budget development and monitoring.
• Monitor trends and usage of SCADA to predict future system trends.
• Daily monitoring, record readings, and perform sampling to check equipment.
• Act as a supporting member for water production and system demands in a facility or remote sites.
• Stay current on up-to-date technology for efficiency and regulatory requirements.

Job Duties

The Water Treatment Plant Mechanic Lead reports to the Water Treatment Utility Supervisor. The primary job duties of this position include:

• Daily monitoring, record readings, and perform sampling to check equipment.

About You

• High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
• 3 years of experience in water treatment and mechanical maintenance
• 5 years of experience in water systems and pumps.
• 1 year in fabricating and industrial plumbing preferred.
• Valid Arizona driver's license.
• ADEQ Grade 2 Water Treatment Certification and a Grade 2 Water Distribution Certification at the time of hire or promotion.
• An ADEQ Grade 3 Water Treatment Certification and a Grade 3 Water Distribution Certification required within 1 year of hire or promotion.
• Certification in welding, fabrication or journeymen trades training preferred.
• 1 year or more of technical training beyond high school in water treatment preferred.

This position has been designated as a Medium work position that spends a majority of their workday in a water treatment plant facility environment.
