Job summary

The Town of Apex is seeking a Water Quality Supervisor to lead the water quality program, act as operator in responsible charge, and ensure safe drinking water for a growing community. You will guide regulatory compliance, monitor programs, and respond to system needs with strong technical leadership.

Requirements include five years in water distribution with supervisory experience, Grade A certification, and a NC Driver's license.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED plus five years in water distribution including two years supervisory
Associate degree or higher preferred for advanced responsibilities
Must hold Grade A Certification in Water Distribution or obtain it within one year of hire
Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's license
Cross Connection Certification preferred at time of hire or within one year of hire

Responsibilities

Oversee water quality program and sampling plans to meet federal and state guidelines.
Serve as ORC and primary regulatory contact for drinking water and cross-connection issues town-wide.
Develop and update monitoring plans (Total Coliform, Disinfection By-Products, Lead & Copper, UCMR).
Coordinate sampling for new lines and non-compliant samples; respond to public questions.
Manage hydrant and valve maintenance, meter testing, and system shutdowns.
Lead staff, conduct performance reviews, and interview applicants.
Prepare state-mandated reports and maintain documentation using Cityworks.
Assist in budgeting for staff and equipment; plan for future water mains and services.
