Job summary

City of Durham in North Carolina seeks a Maintenance Crew Supervisor to lead field operations across water distribution and wastewater collections. You will plan daily work orders via CMMS, supervise crews, and coordinate with field supervisors to ensure data recording and material accountability.

The role requires an Associate’s degree, prior supervisory experience, and a valid NC driver’s license, plus OSHA/Trenching certifications or ability to obtain within a year.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher is required.
• Two years of equipment operation or maintenance experience is needed.
• Prior lead or supervisory experience is required.
• Valid NC Class C driver’s license or ability to obtain within 60 days.
• OSHA Competent Person and Trenching/Shoring certifications (or ability to obtain within 1 year).

Responsibilities

• Supervise field operations in assigned area and ensure safety and compliance.
• Assign and inspect work, monitor staffing, and enforce policies.
• Assist with procurement, budgeting, and inventory management.
• Prepare and review fiscal reports and databases for accuracy.
• Provide customer and staff support, troubleshoot issues, and respond to emergencies.
