Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking a Water Chief Treatment Plant Operator for the Franklin Water Treatment Plant. This role supervises a shift, monitors the distribution system, and ensures water quality and pressure while maintaining records and chemical inventory.

You will train personnel, perform plant inspections, and coordinate with the plant supervisor to keep operations running smoothly. A Grade A certification and a valid NC driver’s license are required, with shift work and background

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years of relevant experience.
Requires a valid driver’s license.
Requires NC WTFO Grade A Water Treatment Plant Operator certification; certifications such as A-Distribution, Grade 1 Physical Chemical, Maintenance Technology desirable.

Responsibilities

Oversees shift staff; creates schedules and assigns work.
Performs plant rounds; monitors distribution system operations.
Ensures lab work is performed accurately and records are maintained.
Maintains chemical inventory and orders chemicals.
Trains staff on new equipment and safety policies; conducts performance reviews.
