Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Lead Engineer to drive Continuous Improvement across operations in Columbus, OH. You will lead data-driven CI, engineering, and automation efforts to elevate safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth.

You will coach teams, manage CI projects, and collaborate across management levels to achieve sustained improvements, leveraging Lean, data analytics, and advanced planning tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain) with 7+ years of related experience; or Master's in related fields with 5+ years.
• 7+ years in Warehousing, Transportation, or Manufacturing related work experience.
• Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Access, Excel, PowerPoint & Visio (Expert).
• Data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX) (Intermediate).
• Proficiency in Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, PDCA, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S/WS.
• Understanding and experience in core engineering and data analysis functions (slotting, labor planning, layouts, metrics).
• Knowledge of CAD tools, WMS, and Labor Management Systems; and automation solutions.
• Lean Six Sigma (Required); cPMP, ISO/QMS, and APICS certifications (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Collects data and performs statistical analysis; maps processes; identifies gaps and implements CI plans.
• Manages high-impact CI projects; supports start-ups, retrofits, and expansions; interfaces with account management.
• Demonstrates wide range of engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards; coaches teams in CI and Lean.
• May supervise CI engineering and quality professionals; participates in hiring and performance.
• Facilitates Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events; trains on Lean methods for operational excellence.
• Provides regular data reports; recommends Inventory and Supply Chain strategies.
