Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Lead Hydraulic and Drainage Engineer to drive design for complex transportation projects—from highways to municipal infrastructure. You will manage full lifecycle work, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor junior engineers while delivering impactful public‑sector solutions.

You will develop technically sound designs, review seals, produce reports, and support proposals and client meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering (or equivalent related discipline).
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience. Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead hydraulic and drainage design for complex, high-impact transportation projects—from major highways to municipal infrastructure solutions.
• Develop engineering designs ranging from basic to highly complex, ensuring solutions meet client needs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Review, approve, and seal completed designs in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Mentor junior engineers and review work to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Collaborate with sales and project development teams to support proposals and responses to RFPs.
