Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a senior Transportation Engineer to lead drainage, hydraulic, and stormwater design for complex projects across the country. You will guide multidisciplinary teams from preliminary engineering through final design, ensuring quality and adherence to client objectives.

The role requires a PE license, a strong background in drainage analysis, and hands-on use of HEC-RAS, GeoHEC-RAS, and related tools. Domestic travel up to 10% is expected as projects span multiple locations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
Professional engineering (PE) license.
10 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Lead the planning, analysis, and design of drainage, hydraulic, hydrologic, and stormwater management systems for transportation infrastructure projects.
Develop and oversee large-scale transportation projects from preliminary engineering through final design, ensuring compliance with client objectives, project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
Prepare and review Erosion and Sediment Control Plans, NPDES permit submissions, drainage reports, hydraulic studies, and stormwater management documentation.
Perform hydraulic and hydrologic modeling with industry-standard software (HEC-RAS, GeoHEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, WinTR-55, HydroCAD, PondPack).
Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, agencies, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead project tasks and manage design staff from preliminary engineering through final design delivery.
