Job summary

1898 & Co., a Burns & McDonnell company, is seeking a Transmission Planning Project Manager to lead multi-disciplinary teams on critical planning studies and system improvements across North America. You will oversee the full project lifecycle from business development through execution and client delivery.

The role requires a strong mix of technical knowledge and leadership, mentoring junior staff, managing scope and budgets, and applying regulatory standards (NERC, FERC).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and 5 years of related professional experience.
• Knowledge in project management techniques and procedures.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
• Experience leading technical aspects of consulting engagements in regards to power systems, distribution planning, and grid modernization.
• Experience on consulting projects, client operations, or executing program management within the critical infrastructure industry.
• Understanding of general business and financial principles.
• Experience with communicating across business segments to understand project objectives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full lifecycle of transmission planning projects from business development through execution.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate scope, schedule, and budget.
• Mentor and develop junior staff and promote technical excellence.
• Lead risk assessment processes and ensure quality deliverables.
• Communicate project status, risks, and costs to stakeholders and leadership.
