Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Transmission Planning Project Manager to oversee all phases of transmission planning projects, from business development through execution, leading multidisciplinary teams and maintaining strong client relationships. The role involves mentoring staff, leading study work, and applying regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, computer science or related field and 5 years of related professional experience.
• Knowledge in project management, techniques, and procedures.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Experience leading technical aspects of consulting engagements in regard to power systems, distribution planning, and grid modernization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of transmission planning projects from business development through execution.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams, develop scope and fee structures, ensure quality deliverables, and maintain client relationships.
• Mentor and grow talent within the team and serve as a go-to technical expert in transmission planning and evaluation.
• Perform and lead advanced transmission planning studies and apply regulatory standards (NERC, FERC, regional policies).
• Lead risk assessment processes and coordinate project teams across engineering and analysis.
