Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Transmission Planning Project Manager to lead multi-disciplinary teams in delivering complex planning studies and client-focused solutions. You will manage scope, fees, schedules, and quality while developing talent across the group.

Responsibilities include business development, risk assessment, and coordinating with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and developers. Strong technical acumen and leadership are essential for success in a dynamic energy landscape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum.
• An advanced degree (MBA or MS/PhD) is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in transmission planning studies and at least 3 years in project leadership.
• Profound knowledge of electric transmission systems and planning processes (NERC/FERC).
• Experience with regional ISOs/RTOs (PJM, MISO, NEISO, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ERCOT, NYISO).
• Proficiency with ERP/office software and strong presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of transmission planning projects from business development to delivery.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and manage scope, budget, and schedules.
• Maintain strong client relationships and mentor junior staff.
• Perform advanced transmission studies and apply regulatory standards.
• Coordinate with engineers and analysts to deliver high-quality results.
