Job summary

1898 & Co. is seeking a Transmission Planning Project Manager to lead complex planning studies and client engagements across North America.

You will guide project scope, schedule, budgeting, and team coordination, delivering high-impact grid solutions while driving business development and contract negotiations. You will mentor engineers, apply NERC/FERC standards, and use tools like PSS E, PSLF, PowerWorld, PSCAD, EMTP/ATP, ETAP and Promod to solve challenging power system problems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related professional experience.
• Knowledge in project management, techniques, and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
• Experience leading technical consulting engagements in power systems, distribution planning, and grid modernization.
• Experience on consulting projects, client operations, or executing program management within the critical infrastructure industry.
• Understanding of general business and financial principles.
• Experience with communicating across business segments to understand project objectives.

Responsibilities

• Business Development: Cultivate and grow client relationships, identify new sales opportunities, lead proposal development and contract negotiations.
• Project Execution: Manage full lifecycle of transmission planning projects, lead risk assessments, coordinate multidisciplined teams, report status and costs.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Train and mentor junior staff, promote technical excellence, serve as go-to technical expert.
• Technical Responsibilities: Conduct and lead advanced transmission planning studies, apply regulatory standards, model with PSS E, PSLF, PowerWorld, PSCAD, EMTP/ATP, ETAP, Promod.
