Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join a dynamic team focused on electric transmission projects. You will design HV overhead and underground lines from 46 kV to 345 kV, applying NESC, ASCE, and ACI standards while preparing plans, specifications, and construction documents.

The role supports a major electric utility with remote work based in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula and periodic site visits; travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and minimum of four (4) years of prior relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems.
• Experience in reviewing full transmission line designs including PLS-CADD models, foundations, material, plan and profiles, and construction packages.
• Knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE code requirements; construction specifications; material procurement process; project schedules; and construction work packages.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals.
• Ability to work effectively in team environment but also able to work independently.
• Proven ability to communicate with clients and project teams.
• Work in client office is a possibility and/or periodic travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Apply standards (NESC, ASCE, ACI) to overhead and underground transmission line design.
• Prepare bidding documents, plans, specifications, and material procurement/construction documents.
• Perform engineering analyses and interface with clients, planning, environmental, permitting and construction management teams.
• Lead or contribute to project scopes, budgets, and proposals.
• Coordinate with a Leidos multi-person team and travel as needed.
