Job summary

GE Aerospace is seeking a Lead Engineer 1 – Thermal Dynamics to provide analytical modeling capabilities, lead thermal system studies, and collaborate with systems engineers to meet customer requirements. You will drive modeling, testing, and validation across multi-disciplinary teams and manage technical risks, architecture, and requirements traceability. The role supports remote or on-site work in St.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college and 8-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Deep expertise in thermal fluid sciences including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
  • Experience with vapor cycle, liquid cooling, and air cycle systems and their components.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 and DO-160 environmental testing methods.
  • Ability to decompose high-level requirements into lower-level specs for thermal and performance needs.
  • Coding/scripting experience, preferably MATLAB/Simulink or Python.
  • Strong communication and collaboration across disciplines and with suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist System Engineer in developing system architecture and technical approach for thermal and controls analyses.
  • Identify and manage technical risks related to thermal performance.
  • Lead modeling/analysis activities and coordinate with engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineer and Program Manager to execute modeling and testing development.
  • Manage thermal requirements and support traceability, decomposition, and validation.
  • Decompose high-level requirements to internal groups and suppliers.
  • Research and propose investments to improve discipline health and products.
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers during design development.
  • Review and approve documents for prototype to production transition.
  • Provide engineering support for troubleshooting and non-performing products.
