Job summary

BMCHS in Brockton, MA is seeking a Switchboard Operator (Lead) in the Communications department. This role handles high-volume telephone paging and supports medical center staff, patients, and public inquiries with a professional, courteous approach.

Under the Lead Operator, you will maintain Xtend paging operations, coordinate on-call coverage, and ensure accurate logging and messaging while following security and privacy policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service to internal and external clients, customers, and patients.
• Utilize Xtend/system to handle telephone/paging tasks.
• Answer, assist and direct a high volume of calls efficiently and professionally.
• Manage on-call schedules, Wandering System, beepers, messages, and system changes.
• Record and report telephone problems to Lead Technician.
• Handle multiple tasks with sound judgment in busy conditions.
• Complete and manage on-call schedules.
• Process calls for Interpreter Services per procedures.
• Respond to and process TDD calls.
• Act as Security Dispatch and Patient Information during off-hours.
• Monitor alarms and follow procedures for system issues.
