Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Lead Switchboard Operator in the Communications department. You will answer and direct a high volume of calls, perform paging and telecommunication tasks, and support staff and patients with courteous, professional service.

The role requires supervision of the Lead Operator under the direction of the Director of Telecommunications, with a focus on accuracy, system familiarity (Meridian/Xtend), and adherence to service standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• One year experience in business or medical field with heavy telephone usage
• Customer service experience required
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

Responsibilities

• Answer and direct a high volume of calls efficiently and professionally
• Perform paging/telephone services using Meridian and Xtend systems
• Prepare on-call schedules and monitor status of coverage and alarms
• Maintain telephone logs and report problems to Lead Technician or supervisor
