Job summary

Good Samaritan Medical Center seeks a Switchboard Operator (Lead) in the Communications department. You will oversee telephone answering, paging, and other telecommunication services using Meridian and Xtend systems, under the Lead Operator.

You will provide superior customer service to patients, staff, and the public, handle on-call schedules, alarms, and interpreter services, and function with minimal supervision while following procedures and policies.

Qualifications

• One year experience in a business or medical related field with heavy telephone usage.
• Ideally will have performed telephone operator or call director duties.
• Customer service experience a must.

Responsibilities

• Answer and direct a high volume of calls efficiently and professionally.
• Operate and monitor the Xtend telephone/paging system and record messages.
• Prepare on-call schedules and manage paging and beeper distribution.
• Maintain telephone logs and update information; handle system changes as needed.
• Report telephone problems to Lead Technician and escalate when necessary.
• Work independently under pressure, following department policies.
• Provide security dispatch and patient information during off-hours as required.
• Maintain confidentiality of all medical center data and adhere to policies.
