Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to directly support operative procedures. This role partners with surgeons, prepares sterile fields, and mentors staff while maintaining patient safety and efficiency in the operating room.

Required qualifications include BLS within 30 days and an Associate’s degree or Certificate in Surgical Technology. New grads are welcome to apply as part of our mission to train the next generation of skilled technologists.

Qualifications

• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA).
• Education: Associate’s degree or Certificate in Surgical Technology
• Work Experience: Accepts New Grads

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific procedures timely, accurately and efficiently.
• Ensure instruments, equipment and suture are appropriate, complete and functional.
• Set up sterile field and scrub in prior to patient entering the room.
• Set up case so others can step into an organized back table and mayo.
• Use resources wisely, avoid unnecessary openings.
• Motions are fluid and not redundant.
• Set up time for a variety of case types within acceptable range.
• Collaborates with surgeon prior to case and adjusts as necessary.
• Precept surgical techs and RNs to prepare for procedures.
• Scrubs on simple to complex procedures for a variety of specialties.
• Able to run mayo independently.
• Be prepared for intra-op events and maintain calm behavior.
• Precept/mentor staff and students in planning for surgical events.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and teach others observation/knowledge.

Education

Associate’s degree or Certificate in Surgical Technology
