Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a surgical technologist to provide direct and indirect care, assist surgeons, and serve as a resource for staff and students. The role includes preparing for a variety of surgical procedures, maintaining sterile technique, and mentoring others within the team.

The position offers a sign-on bonus and relocation bonus and requires BLS certification within 30 days, plus an associate’s degree or cert in surgical technology. New grads are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• Certification: BLS within 30 days (AHA).
• Education: Associate’s degree or certificate in surgical technology.
• Work experience: Accepts new grads.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific procedures in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
• Ensure instruments, equipment, and sutures are complete and functional.
• Set up sterile field and scrub in prior to patient entering room.
• Set up case so that another can step into an organized back table and mayo.
• Collaborates with surgeon prior to case and adjusts as necessary.
• Precept surgical techs and RNs to prepare for surgeon specific procedures.
• Performs case closing activities such as dressing application, transfer and turnover.
