Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Level Substation Structural Engineer to join our Power & Energy Civil Structural Substation Team. The role supports projects from multiple locations, including Overland Park, KS, with optional hybrid/remote work.

You will lead engineers and drafters in all aspects of electrical substation structural design, coordinate with disciplines, perform calculations, and develop construction specifications and schedules.

Qualifications

• BSCE from ABET-accredited college.
• 5–7 years of post-education experience in structural design.
• Expertise in structural analysis (steel, concrete, foundations).
• PE exam completed (NCEES).

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers, designers, and drafters in substation structural design.
• Perform foundations, structure, bus, and control building design.
• Prepare calculation packages to satisfy client and code requirements.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines on results.
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs.
• Travel occasionally as needed.
