Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Mid-Level Structural Engineer for the Power Delivery Substation Structural Group to perform design for electrical substations, working with the Civil/Structural Team to meet client objectives.

Under minimal supervision, you will lead other engineers, perform calculations, develop specifications, schedules, and budgets, and coordinate with multiple disciplines. Occasional travel is required; strong English communication is essential.

Qualifications

BSCE degree from ABET accredited college.
5–7 years of post-education experience in structural design.
Expertise in structural analysis including steel and concrete design, soil mechanics, and foundation design.
Advanced knowledge of building codes and standards (ASCE, ACI, AISC, IEEE, etc).
NCEES PE exam completed.
Ability to work independently and in a team to meet objectives.
Strong English communication (written and verbal).
Commitment to safety and company policies.
Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Lead engineers, designers, and drafters in electrical substation structural design including foundations, structural supports, and control buildings.
Coordinate with disciplines for results and constructability.
Prepare calculation packages to meet client and code requirements.
Develop construction specifications, cost estimates, proposals, and project schedules.
Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs; provide construction phase support.
